Monkey Love

In sticking with my no more paper hoarding promise I broke out another DCWV stack and cut up not one but 2 (gasp) sheets of cardstock.

Instead of "mass producing" the same Valentine over and over this year I'm trying to make each one unique.

My inspiration came from the Sketch Challenge on Splitcoaststampers.  My color combo was inspired from the pattern paper with the animals on it.  Here's what I used...for the card base I used SU Mellow Moss. The 2 patterned papers are DCWV Animal Crackers, that I've had for over and year and only used one sheet of paper out of it till now.  The image stamp is a Valentine Changito by Stampendous. I used the sentiment from the SU Wild about you set, both were stamped in Stazon jet black. I matted this panel with SU Choc chip. I then colored the image with a combo of SU markers and tombow markers. It doesn't show in the photo but the monkey is outlined with some pink chalk I rubbed on with a q-tip.  I added the heart punch border with the Martha Stewart border punch and the 2 little heart brads.  Thanks for stopping by, have a wonderful day

Cricut Scrapbook

I love the books that the Bug Junkie makes on her blog. Hers are fabulous with a lot of detail to them so I thought I'd attempt to make one for our Christmas pics. WOW what ALOT of work!! Just to do 4 little sections took forever so this will probably be the only album I make like this.

I used some old DCWV papers that I mounted on a heavier weight cardstock. The cricut carts I used were  Winter Woodlands for the house, snowman, deer and trees. Paper Doll Dress Up for the Santa.  It looks really cute filled with our pics though. Thanks for stopping by.

Embrace Life

I can't believe 2010 is just a few days away, how time does fly, and while I'm not going to make New Year's Resolutions ... except to quit hoarding paper supplies... LOL ... I am going to try to live life to the fullest and not rush through things so much, be more appreciative, and take note of the little things which is what really matters.  So that is what has inspired this card, sometimes you just need to stop and Embrace Life!

The card base is made from SU celery cs, the patterned paper is DCWV Far East stack, the bright blue is misc I think from a joann's value pack.  I used the SU Embrace Life set for the leaf which I colored with Su celery marker, I also used the sentiment and flower from the same set. The center image is from SU Dream Garden which I stamped in Stazon and then added some turquoise and diamond stickles to her.  Thanks so much for stopping by and may you and your family have a very Happy and Prosperous New Year!

MOJO 118 Happy Birthday

I love the sketch for Mojo Monday this week. After seeing it this card came to mind right away.  I need to use up more of my DP instead of hoarding it all so I actually broke the seal on one of my DCWV packs that have yet to be touched. The pack is called Rustic and when I chose these 2 papers I thought the SU Upsy Daisy image would be perfect for a country style birthday card.

The card base is SU Close to Cocoa which is the same color I used to stamp the image and sentiment.  I punched the sentiment with an SU designer label punch and layered it with SU Mellow Moss. I also layered the image with Mellow Moss and punched the boarder with SU eyelet border punch. I made a piece of faux ribbon coming down with a scrap piece of Mellow Moss and applied the sentiment with pop dots.  I'm not sure how much is shows in the picture but I added a dab of platinum stickles to the tips of the flowers.  Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek at my creations I reallly appreciate your visit.

Cricut Valentine

Here is my cricut version of the Fancy Valentine I uploaded earlier.  The concept is the same except I started with real red SU as the card base, layerd on white then ran a layer of real red through the cuttlebug with the textile embossing folder.  I added a border strip in white punched with Martha Stewart heart punch.  I again cut out the frame from the Nestie Fleur de lis by spellbinders.  So instead of doing another embossed heart I used my A Child's Year cartridge and cut one of the valentine images at 2 1/2 in white then again at 2 1/2 on the shadow feature in red.  I applied it to the card with pop dots then covered the boy and girl in diamond stickles.  Thanks so much for looking.

Fancy Valentine

I'm getting a head start on Valentine Day cards. I'm trying to make several different ones this year instead of all the same. This one was very easy to do so I will have to make a copy of it. :)

I started with a white card base, then ran my pretty in pink layer through the cuttlebug with the textile embossing folder.  I then made my border of white using the Martha Stewart heart border punch and layered a strip of the fleur de lis EK Success slimline border punch. I don't know how I feel about these slimline punches I have a hard time with them.  I then used my new Fleur De Lis Nestie die that my dear dear friend sent me for Christmas along with a bunch of other goodies.  I broke out one of my older SU sets...Gentler Times...and inked the heart with white craft ink stamped it on pretty in pink SU paper and covered it with holographic embossing powder then heat embossed. I applied it to the card with pop dots.  I was going to add a sentiment or even a silver heart charm but it just made the card look cluttered so I left it as is. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek.

Boatloads of Possibilites

I have to say I really enjoy my recent issue of Paper Crafts magazine (jan/feb 10). It has some wonderful creations in it that are a great inspiration.  I got my idea for this card from that mag. The layout and color inspiration are from a card called "let's hang out" on page 52.  As far as what I made this card for I don't have an answer which is why I left off the sentiment. I figure it can be adapted for a boy's birthday, or maybe a card from my son to Daddy or even to the grandparents, or even a non traditonal Valentine card if I add the big heart to it from the boatloads of love set.

For the card base I used DCWV. The light blue layer is SU bashful blue and the polka dot paper is another DCWV from the summer mat stack which I matted on SU Navy.  I used the SU scallop border punch on the bash blue layer.  I don't add ribbon to my cards very often because I am Horrible at tying it and not making it too lumpy but I'm glad I went out of my comfort zone and added the ribbon to this one.  The polka dot ribbon was from Michael's dollar bin at halloween. I stamped the boat in Stazon black and watercolored with various pencils and a blender pen.  I added some diamond stickles to the puffs of smoke and the upper windows for a little dimension and the waterfall stickles to the waves.

Hope everyone has a great day, thanks for stopping by.

Preschool Christmas Card Kit

I was on the Christmas party committee for my son's preschool and the parents had to come up with some crafts for the kids to do during the party. I put together this card kit for them. Keep in mind this is 3 and 4yr olds.  I had all the pieces matted, cut and in a baggie all they had to do was color Santa then glue everything on.  It was so fun seeing  how the cards turned out, especially when a lot of the 4 yr olds colored the Santa orange, blue, purple and green. The 3yr olds stuck with coloring the Santa red.  Some even added their own touch by coloring the white eyelet border colors.

Cardstock...green and red from Joanns
Stamps...Santa from Gifts of Joy SU
Acces...eyelet border punch SU, lg flower punch SU
bic mark it markers and diamond stickles

Cheers

I have a crazy schedule this week baking cookies, helping to host my son's preschool Christmas Party, cleaning my house then the preschool Christmas Program and afterwards family will come to the house for cookies.

I wanted to be able to upload at least once this week so in my pajamas at 630am I'm creating this super easy card. I love this paper from DCWV Glitter Stack, you have so many possibilities with this pattern.  I wanted this to be a versatile card. I think it could be used for New Years, Birthdays or even just a Congratulations card.

The image is CosmoBella from Stamping Bella...love my bellas but haven't used them in awhile.  I colored her with glitter pens to match the glitter on the pattern paper.  The sentiment is from SU Lots of Thoughts

Hope everyone has a great week and I will try to upload maybe this weekend.

Let It Snow Tags

Well since my attempt at card making has been less than inspring the past couple days I thought I would try to make these snowman tags that I've wanted to create since receiving the Snow Friends cricut cartridge.  I have a card swapper group on Facebook and each month I try to make something for the women participating, this tag will be January's thank you.

These were really fun to make and a great way to use up your scraps.  I started by cutting different snowmen from the Snow Friends Cricut cartridge at 3 in on white cardstock.  I then cut out each snowman's accessories also at 3 inches.  If you apply multiple scraps to your cricut mat you can do several different accessories without having to constantly unload your paper, just move your blade over to your next scrap on the mat and do your cutting.
I drew the faces on, it was much easier than cutting out those small black dots for the mouth etc. I did cut out some of the noses and others I drew with orange marker.  After I dressed them I added some stickles to the outer edges to give them some sparkle.

I then cut the tags from the George Cricut cartridge. The blue layer was cut at 4 inches and the green was cut on the shadow feature also at 4 inches.  I ran the blue tags 2 at a time through my cuttlebug using the Snowflake embossing folder. The green snowflakes were punched out with a Martha Stewart punch.  I stamped Let It Snow in SU Always Artichoke on scraps of the blue and layerd with scraps of the green.

Thanks for looking, off to finish the last 5 tags.

SC258 Happy Heart Day

Well my son is feeling a little better today, at least we've gone several hours with no fever.  We were glad to hear he didn't have pneumonia just something viral and is on meds so hopefully he'll be at a 100% soon.

So since he is feeling a bit better today I thought I would try to create. Well I'm not sure how I like the finished product but this was my attempt at todays sketch challenge on SCS.  I feel the card is just missing something so I'm going to attempt this sketch again.

Supplies for this card are...Cardstock Pomegranate SU, Misc pink, heart paper DCWV... Stamps Branch Out SU, Happy Heart Day SU, Petite Patterns SU...Ink Pomegranate, Choc Chip SU, Stazon Black...Accessories scallop border SU, Tombow, Bic Mark It Markers, Photo Corner punch SU, heart brad misc.

Passing Time

I'm trying to occupy myself while waiting on the doctor's office to call me back so I can find out if my son has pneumonia and after wearing a path in the floor from pacing I thought it would just be better if I kept myself busy in my craft room while my son is lying down.

So I hopped on over to Splitcoaststampers to check out the challenges for today and decided to try the CAS44 Challenge. I could only use shades of red and brown with some white or vanilla on the card and basically keep the card clean and simple...here's what I came up with

I started with riding hood red SU cardstock for the base. I've had this old DCVW patterned paper and it fit the challenge perfectly. I cut a 3 in piece and mounted on brown CS and then adhered to the red base.  I used SU Thoughts and Prayers set for the image. Inked the stamp with Chocolate Chip SU and then took a Q-tip and wiped the ink off the flowers. I used my red Tombow marker and colored the flowers then stamped the image on SU white.  The Merry Christmas sentiment is from SU Christmas Greetings.  I matted the white panel on brown cs also.  The border punch is EK Success fleur de lis.

I think it could use a little something at the bottom but the point was clean and simple.

Sick

Cold and Flu go away come again some other day or better yet NEVER come again.  My poor little guy has been non stop sick since starting preschool this year. So it looks like we are taking another trip to the docs today since I was up most of the night with him while he was coughing and running another fever.  Any moms have any tips on preventing this from happening?

Well just got home from the doc's and the hospital. Waiting to hear now if my little one has pneumonia. :(

Stamps R Us Blog Challenge Card

For the blog group I belong to Karen gave us our first challenge which was to create a card using the sketch on Mercy's Blog and so here is my creation.

The base of the card is DCWV brown cardstock. I then used SU celery cs with the finial press sizzix embossing folder and adhered to the base.  The DP is a mix of old DCWV and new DCWV from the green stack.  The owl stamp is from Stampendous. I colored the image with a combo of tombow and bic mark it markers.  And of course I had to use my trusty nestabilities circles and scallops.

I think this would make a good card from my son to Daddy with the saying inside....loves you?  ME!  For Valentine's Day

This was fun, always love a sketch challenge and can't wait for the next one. Thanks

Well I'm trying to get a jump start on Valentine's Day cards. Yep you read that right Valentine's Day. LOL I think I'm burned out on Christmas cards especially since I started making them back in October.  So here is one I came up with using Boatloads Of Love from SU. I regretted not picking this set up after it retired so thanks to Splitcoaststampers buy/sell/trade forum I got a good deal on a used set.  So anyway here's my card...

Watercolor crayons SU
Diamond Stickles, Martha Stewart border punch

SU Lovely As a Tree stamp

You Light Up My Life

I created this card for my husband. I adore the chandelier image from the Cricut Home Decor cartridge and couldn't wait to use it. The card base is SU black, the patterned paper is DCWV from the glitter stack. I punched the border with my new favorite punch by ek success. The scalloped square was done with spellbinder nestabilities die ran through the cuttlebug. I cut the chandelier out at 2 1/2 in. and popped it up with dimensionals adding some stardust stickles to it. Love was also cut from the Home Decor cart at 1 1/4 I believe. Inside I'll put you Light up my life.

Hearts Come Home for Christmas

I love the sentiment on this card and when I was looking through the images on my new Cricut Cartridge Winter Woodlands and saw the snowman with the heart I thought the 2 would go perfectly together. I used MOJO sketch 113 for the layout. The paper is soft sky by SU which I embossed with the cuttlebug snowflake folder. The blue matted with red layer was embossed with the swiss dots folder through the cuttlebug. The DP is DCWV of course. The snowflakes are punched out with Martha Stewart punch. I added some stickles to the snowflakes, snowman and the panel behind the snowman to look like falling snow. The sentiment is from the SU set Home for Christmas.

Just Learning

Well I did it. I jumped in with both feet and created this blog. Please be patient as I try to figure things out. I'm sure I'll be searching the web and asking lots of questions. So now off to figure out how to add some photos of my work and get this blog going.
