Doodlecharm Thanks

I got the idea for this card from the cricut messageboards but can't find the post to link to.  I adore this puppy face on the Doodlecharm cart and I needed a thank you card from my son to his Grandma so I thought this image would be cute.  Most of the papers are DCWV with some SU mixed in. I cut the sun at 3 inches and chalked the middle. I cut the Puppy face at 3 in too but he needed a body so I used the oval cut on the George cart. That's also the same place I got the sign post. I'm wishing I would have shadowed it though to give it more dimension.  The grass is from Paper Doll Dress up and the little flowers are punched out with fiskars punch. Short and sweet for today...have a wonderful day and thanks for taking the time to stop.  Spring is almost here....I can feel it....at least I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

MOJO 131 Happy Birthday

Here's my card for this weeks mojo challenge (you can find the link to the mojo site in my sidebar) and I needed something to get my Mojo going again.  With everything that's been going on I haven't had much time to sit down and stamp. So this sketch was a perfect jumping off point to get going again.

I love the 3 panels on this sketch and when deciding what stamp set to use I  knew I wanted one I could use 3 images on so why not grab my Favorite Verve set...Up and Away.  The bg paper is dcwv and believe it or not I forget which stack it came out of. I paper pieced the balloon with a piece of scrap dp. Popped the clouds up on dimensionals and stamped the trees in olive and choc chip SU.  The sentiment is a clear stamp from inkadinkado. Thanks for stopping by and taking a look. Hope you all have a great day.

Chipboard Wall Hanging

I completely cased this idea from my sister-n-law. She made this fabulous wall hanging for my Mother in Law at Christmas and I told her I was stealing her idea, so here it is.

The base is the On board chipboard from the SU catty. I cut some DCWV paper to cover it from the Green Stack. The center cross are mats that are made to hold 4x6 photos....so if you have a vertical or horizontal photo either will work on this wall hanging.  The spiral clips on the edges are there to hold your photo on so you can change it whenever you want.  I couldn't remember exactly how she did her ribbon so I just did mine simple and tied it in knots through the holes I made with the cropadile.  I embellished with green stack chipboard.

This would make a lovely gift for anyone, its quick and easy. Thanks Terri for the inspiration :)  Told ya I'd be posting it on my blog.  Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.

Feelin' Froggy

Picked up the Sweethearts cart for cricut a month ago and it has some great images on there, more than just for love. I knew when I saw this little frog I would use it right away.

I was so happy with the way this card turned out until I saw my crooked polka dots. I can't believe they slant downward, see that's what happens when you're folding a circle to cut in half and not paying attention to the pattern on the other side....ugh!!!! And did I have another sheet of red polka dots so I could redo this...nooooo  So I guess whoever gets this card maybe won't  notice or will think I was a little tipsy when putting it together or maybe the frog will just be so darn cute and they'll be so happy to be receiving a handmade card they won't care the polka dots slant to the right and will love it anyway...ok MOM I think you're getting this card LOL.  You know she loves her daughter imperfections and all.
The idea for this sketch came from my blogging friend Karen and this fantastic CARD she did. The little flowers are a ek success punch, the sentiment is SU and papers DCWV.  Hope you enjoyed little froggy here...have a sunshiney kind of day

You're a Good Egg

I'm still trying to build up my Easter card stash so here is my attempt at casing a card from the SU catty. I loved the Easter card they did using this set and wanted to recreate it but I made the card standard A2 size instead of the smaller size like the catty.
It turned out ok, I like the color combo on it. I'm not thrilled with the coloring of the chick, I used the SU marker on it and it just didn't cover well on this cheap vanilla paper I used...lesson learned there.  Please excuse the crumpled top that's my son trying to "help mommy" That's why he has his own supplies but sometimes those aren't good enough LOL.
Thanks for "peeping" in off for another attempt on an Easter creation

Happy Easter

I love making spring cards, it just gets me in the mood for warm weather, the budding trees and spring flowers.  Summer by the Sea from SU couldn't be anymore versatile and was perfect for this Easter card. I have used this set for everything from anniversary, thinking of you, mother's day, you name it.  Its what I would consider a classic and even though its retired if you don't have this set and can find someone selling it, pick it up...you won't go wrong with it.

So I'm trying out several different Easter card styles this year and I have to say so far this is my favorite! I just love how the card turned out, the soft yellows and greens with the crisp white. I even added a little cricut embellishment. The embossing is petals a plenty folder from SU on celery, the center layer is K and Company flocked cardstock. I picked this cs up years ago on clearance at Joanns, see I knew it would be useful someday. lol  The little duck was cut from A Child's Year cart. I'm still working on making cards from that cartridge, love all the images. I colored the little girl with SU markers.  The punches are also SU and the ovals are nesties. Thanks for looking today and may your day have rays of sunshine.

A Kind Word

Here is my attempt at the Stamps R Us challenge this month. The challenge is distressing. I'm not exactly sure how well its going to show in the photo but the edges of the image and the edges of the dp are distressed with the edge of a pair of scissors.  You can find the challenge HERE, feel free to play along and you have plenty of time left.

I think this image from SU A Kind Word is just the sweetest thing. I've only played around with this set a couple times but I know it will become one of my favorites. The base of this card is SU Olive. The dp is from the DCWV Mariposa stack. The layer behind the image is blue bayou..oh SU won't you please bring this color back...do you think they heard me? I'm almost out of this color and I don't know what I'll do when its gone (insert tear here)  I colored the image with SU markers and popped the sentiment up on pop dots. Short and sweet for today, hope you enjoyed this card. Have a great day and thanks for stopping by

MOJO 129 Flight of the Butterfly

Here's my card for today's MOJO sketch. I haven't felt like creating a card for a few days besides that I've been so busy I haven't had time so it was nice to get the creativity flowing again.

I  love this color combo and I got it from the butterfly paper I used on this card which came from the Mariposa DCWV stack. Gorgeous Gorgeous papers in there.  I mixed a lot of elements to create this, first using blue bayou as my base and embossing it with the SU elegant bouquet folder. Then I mixed several different stamp sets. The thought was to make the butterfly look like it was leaving a trail of flowers behind as it flew away but I think I needed to tilt the butterfly a little more.  Anyway the butterfly is from SU God's Beauty and the flower spray is from SU Messages for Mom. The Mother sentiment is from Verve, which fits perfectly inside the SU modern label punch. I think this will definitely be one of my Mother's Day cards this year.  Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek. I appreciate all the comments everyone has been leaving, they truly bring a smile to my face.  Thanks much to all my followers and friends for your support and encouragement.  Happy Day to all of you!

Mother's Day Gift

I'm getting a jump start on Mother's day this year and when I saw the samples in the Occasions mini by SU I knew I wanted to recreate the note cards they made using the Vintage Vogue set. Well I don't have that sizzix die however I do have the same exact image on my Storybook cricut cart. I cut these little notes out at 5 1/2. Then again in olive so I could cut the bottom off and adhere to the white layer.  The scallop border is close to cocoa. Just a Note came from The Paper Company stamp set, I forget the name right now. The floral images are from SU Vintage Vogue...love this new set. I made 5 notes each and tied it with pretty ribbon. I'm also going to add a few little 3x3 note cards to go with this. I hope they like them.  Thanks for stopping by and may you have a wonderful day.  I think I should really get myself in gear for Easter.

Spring Hat

Well here it is, the spring hat I had to make for my son to wear to preschool this month. It took a whole sunday afternoon to complete but I love the results and he's thrilled with it so that's all that matters. I have 4 pics of it front, sides and back and will tell you what carts I used for this. This is the front, the frog came from Sweethearts cart and the ferns from stretch your imagination. The grass cut all the way around the hat is from paper doll dress up.

Here's a pic of the side, grasshopper and ferns from Stretch your Imagination, stick behind bug from doodlecharms and the white flowers were a punch from SU.  All these pieces are sewn on and boy was that hard trying to get a needle through a hat.

This is the opposite side and the catipillar is from stretch your imagination along with the fern and stick from doodlecharms.

Final view...back side, dragonfly from doodlecharms. I then sewed the ivy to the top. Hope you enjoyed looking at this as much as I enjoy the finished project. Thanks for stopping by today.

Anti Card Challenge 1 Bookmark

I have a friend starting a new challenge over at Splitcoaststampers called the Anti Card Challenge. Basically she wants to see other paper crafting projects besides cards. I thought this would be fun and challenging for me.  For the first challenge we were supposed to create a bookmark for a 10yr old girl. I picked the pattern paper I wanted to use first and made my bookmark from there.

Since I only have a son I don't really have many stamp sets for young girls besides some bellas and after coming up empty handed looking through that stash I thought the hot air balloons from Verve would be perfect.  I stamped the balloon in choc chip (su) on the white then again on the pattern (dcwv) and cut that one out adhereing to white layer with pop dots.  I popped the clouds up on dimensionals too.  I wanted to add the trees to the base instead of just having empty white space at the bottom and so I made it a seperate layer that also is popped with dimensionals. I love the way this turned out and can't wait to see the next challenge.

So hop on over to splitcoast and play along...you can find it HERE

Bunny School

I am so inpsired by Jeannie Phillips at A Place for my cards blog (there's a link in my sidebar). She makes the most Awesome cricut cards. So my bunny school was inspired by her Reindeer School card.  This was so super fun to make and I'll try to remember the size of all the cuts I did.

The card base is Bash Blue SU that was embossed with D'vine swirls..couldn't live without this folder.  I then cut the bus out at 3 inches and the bunny heads at 1 1/4 in...both from doodlecharms. I added the gray circles to the wheels with a 3/4 circle punch.  The Sun was cut at 2 1/2 in I think, also on the doodlecharms cart.  The grass is from Paper Doll Dress up cut at 1 1/2.  The basket and eggs are from doodlecharms and I can't remember the cut on these. The tree was cut from Stretch your Imagination and I then used a scallop marvy punch for the tree top.

I love making cricut cards but I will say they are way more involved than when I stamp a card so these cards are basically one of a kind LOL  Hope you liked it.
